Ash

The Common Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) is a much loved British tree. It has black leave buds in spring, leaves in three to six pairs with a terminal single leaf and in autumn has bunches of seeds called keys.

The wood is flexible and is used to make tool handles and hurleys. Hurleys are the sticks used in the Irish game hurling.
