Silver birch
The Latin name for the Silver birch is Betula pendula. The silver birch is a part of the Betulaceae family and can grow up to 30m. The leaves are light green, small and triangular and in autumn turn to a yellow shade. ​​

There flowers are monoecious from April to May.
Identifying male and female flowers:
male: Catkins and long and yellow-brown, which hang in groups of two to four.
Female: Flowers are smaller, shorter and bright green. there fruits look like tiny seeds and are borne in autumn and dispersed by the wind.
Silver birch is are popular garden tree and is tolerant of different temperatures. They thrive in drier woodlands. Silver birch provides food and habitat for more than 300 insects, and woodpeckers nest in its trunks.
