Along Balaam's Wood Walk (NCN 5) you will find 11 marker posts for the Birmingham Erratics Project. These posts highlight the different geological ages and have a design on the top that can be copied like a brass rubbing. The posts begin at the Rubery Lane end of the pathway and follow the pathway towards Arden Road. On the side of the pathway at the Rubery Lane end you will also find an erratic boulder.

The erractic boulders in Birmingham are originally from Wales and were moved to the midlands in the first ice age. The second ice age moved them again into the South of Birmingham.

The Birmingham erratics project have lots of different walks and cycle rides to follow in their free leaflets
