The Rubery remains used to be a part of he Halesowen and Northfield railway line. this railway connected Halesowen with the midland railway at Longbridge and was opened on Monday 10th September 1883. The last train ran from Halesowen on the 29th August 1958 and the last one from Longbridge  to Birmingham ran on the 1st January 1960. The line completely closed on the 6th January 1964.
